Tuesday, December 11, I’ll be in Weston, Wisconsin at DC Everest High School talking with Matt Cepress’s Creative Writing class and Betsy Frey-Neufeld’s American Novels class about the writing process (inspiration, what makes "good" writing--the marriage of form and content), writing for publication (my personal journey, how the industry works, the changing face of the book industry), and what happens after you're published (the truth about royalties, marketing, book signings, and selling the next book.).

I LOVE talking with high school students. Maybe it comes from having taught English before I had kids, maybe it comes from having teens myself, or maybe it’s because it was in high school I learned I loved both reading and writing stories. Whatever it is. I’m thrilled that Betsy asked me and am looking forward to Tuesday.
