Laurel just returned for Author Day at Barnes and Noble
I think I may have mentioned before how fun it is to attend book signings. I love meeting new people and seeing ones I've already met. Wausau's Barnes and Noble had a HUGE Author Day. There were 13 authors in and out of the store selling books that ranged from politics, to romance, to losing weight, to finding beer pubs, and the Cheesehead night before Christmas. There were photography books, mysteries, and the X files.
There was something for everyone and then some. I had a wonderful time. I met an aspiring author, talked with readers, signed a few books, and laughed with fellow authors: Marshall Cook, Kevin Rovlinski, Romey Wagner, Lyn Cote, Patrick Rothfuss, and Victoria Houston to name only a few.
If you ever see an author who is signing, PLEASE stop by and say hi even if you don't buy a book (although I really wish you would, even if I'm not the author). Book signings are much more fun with readers to talk to. I've never met an author who wasn't extremely grateful to book a signing and thrilled to sell books at the signing. Authors spend long hours alone, bent over their computer. Talking to people, especially people who've read or want to read their books is a joy. Even for the famous authors. Trust me.
Authors are nothing without readers. We LOVE to meet you.
