A Wish in Time is Romantic Times "Top Pick"
By laurel bradley on6/22/2009
"This is a wonderfully fascinating story with a bit of magic. The way each woman adjusts to her situation, and the way the husbands accept what has happened in their own individual ways, makes this an intelligent page-turner. ________________________________________ Summary: In 1718 Scotland, Auld Annie is accused of being a witch. Magda McClellan is kind to her, so Annie offers to grant Magda a wish. Happy as she is, Magda refuses it. In 2002 New York, Maggie McDonald and her husband long for a baby. A strange nurse named Annie can help her, but it means being separated from her husband for a while. It's not until Maggie changes places spiritually with Magda that she understands what Annie meant. While Magda's Davy believes that Maggie now inhabits Magda's body, Maggie's husband can't understand why his wife claims she's someone named Magda. In the past, Davy and Maggie work to find a way to switch the women back." (IUNIVERSE, 2006, 185 pp., $13.95) MILD —Susan Mobley Romantic Times Revi ...

A Wish in Time Wins ForeWord Magazine's 2008 Best Book Award for Romance
By laurel bradley on6/11/2009
This afternoon, I opened the mail to find I SHOULD have gone to Book Expo America. A Wish in Time was up for ForeWord Magazine’s 2008 Romance Book of the Year Award to be awarded in a ceremony there. I had thought about going. I talked to my dad about going with me. We looked at the expense and finally decided not to. Jacob was graduating from high school that weekend. Besides, I probably wasn’t going to win anyway. And then A Wish in Time won “Gold.” You could knock me over with a feather. (They award bronze, silver and gold.) So, what does this mean? I get: Bragging rights. An announcement on ForeWord Magazine’s website and magazine. Recognition at the award ceremony I couldn’t make. Two copies of the award certificate. A handful of lovely gold stickers to put on the cover of the book and the right to purchase more. Recognition from my publisher. The chance to purchase advertising saying I’m a winner. The chance to email all of you and say, “Woo Hoo!” A really good feeling. And...did I me ...

Fox Valley Book Fest is a Blast
By laurel bradley on4/18/2009

I had the privilege of attending the Second Annual Fox Valley Book Fest and participating in the book signing in Appleton's City Center. I had a marvelous location. A group of talented musicians entertained the many people strolling by. I met a wonderful variety of nice people. One gracious lady was visiting from England on business. We had a lovely chat about books and rivers.

While the signing was on Saturday, the Fest was a week long extravaganza of speakers at a variety of venues. I was impressed. Next year, I plan on going early to listen to some of the programs.

If you ever have the chance to attend the Fox Valley Book Fest, do.
